I still Believe in Jesus but … who is His Mother? 私は、それでもなおイエスを信ずる...そして誰が彼の母親ですか?

Well, last week, we took some time to explore this Lordship of Jesus Question.  It might not have been a question you had. It might have been a reminder of simple truths you hold on to.  It may not have been helpful at all—for a series of reasons. None-the-less, I HAVE to preach that part of the Message.  As with Paul, as he wrote in Romans 1:16 ローマ1:16 “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for Salvation to everyone who believes… For in the Gospel a righteous from God is revealed…”
As we have stated before, The Gospel Message is FOR the Christian AND the Non-Christian alike.  We who know this Message and follow it need to be reminded “more often than we need to be instructed.” And for those who do not believe the message, they too need to hear it because it is life giving AND because the message is true.

先週:宿題。 Last week, I had asked you to look up those verses that we printed in the handout.  I asked you to write down some thoughts.  Who would want to be the second one to share what they found?
1 Cor 10:31; Matt 5:16; Luke 10:38-42; Mark 6:31; Isaiah 55:6-7  1コリント10:31 ; マタイ5:16; ルカ10:38-42 ; マルコ6:31; イザヤ55:6-7

Isaiah 55:6-7 6 Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.  Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.
Before we move from this point, is there anyone here this morning that wants to call on God for your Salvation?  Is there anyone who wants this pardon that is offered by the Saving God?

From a commentary I have been reading, the author suggest that this passage from Isaiah uses both repentance FROM sin and COMING TO Christ for pardon.  Last week we spoke of this: “A person moves FROM sin and TURNS to Christ.” 人は罪からイエスへ向きなおす。
call on Him彼を呼び求めなさい  Let the wicked forsake their ways邪悪なものは自らの道を進ませましょう。  the unrighteous their thoughts.  Let them turn to the Lord. 彼らが向き直すようにしましょう。  To better understand this, turn to Paul’s writing in Acts 20:21: “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.”
Still later, in Hebrews 6:1, ヘブル人への手紙6:1 we find: “Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God…”
The phrases today: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord. who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, 我は天地の造り主、全能の父なる神を信ず。我はその独り子、我らの主、イエス・キリストを信ず。主は聖霊によりてやどり、処女マリヤより生まれ
If we were to summarize the Biblical teaching about the Person of Christ, it would look like this: Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man in one person, and will be for forever.
In saying that, Biblical proof is very strong to support this definition.  Let’s get to it:

As we found last week, Luke as well as Matthew accounts are most important to the foundation of this claim in the Apostle’s Creed.  The birth of Jesus is found there.  The Promise of that Birth, however is found in many Old Testament passages as in Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and will call Him Immanuel.
The Virgin Birth: 処女懐胎:  Huge item here!  I am sure there are other so-called- faiths that have something like this but this is very important to hold to as a matter of Faith.  The Scriptures undoubtedly asserts that Jesus was conceived in the womb of His mother Mary by a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit and without a human father.
Matt 1:18 マタイ1:18        This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
Matt 1:20 マタイ1:20  But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
Matt 1:24-25 マタイ1:24-25: 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
This is asserted in Luke’s Gospel, as well, where we read of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary with this news.  Luke 1:35.  The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.”

This is the birth of Hope. 希望の誕生. In a world that is constantly changing, with wars, sickness, poverty and injustice, there are people who struggle to keep on living, living by habit long after they had lost any sense of purpose or drive, significance, ambition or goal.  And into this world God had made preparations.

Things had not gone the way Creator God wished them to go.  In Isa 5:7b イザヤ5:7b that when He looked for justice, He saw bloodshed, looked for righteousness but heard cries of distress instead.  And He looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress. Yes, things with His own Children, the Nation of Israel, they had turned against His laws and commands.  They had killed the Prophets and cheated one another, lied, and used each other for ill.  The more life fell under the control of sin, the emptier life seemed, and the more frustrated His People became (Isa 59) イザヤ59.  But His Plan for them was for good.  Even with the Peace of Rome, there were heavy taxes, armies occupied their cities, Roman culture and values, slavery and misery were every day experiences.  There were still wars and poverty BUT as the people struggled to live their lives, something very unique was about to happen in this out of the way province of Rome.  A Birth of a Baby took place and only shepherds noticed and some wise men from the East.  And this Baby would be able to do something no law could.  One day, THIS Baby would say “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  (John 10:10 、ヨハネ10:10.)
To a world of people who live from one day to the next with no real hope, without real meaning to life—this Birth—this Baby Jesus, the Christ, would offer a fresh newness to a dull life.  A life worth living.  A life turned around and transformed by the Power of God and the world will never be the same again.

The Virgin Birth and the doctrinal importance of that birth is seen in at least three areas: 処女懐胎とその出生の教義上の重要性は、少なくとも3つの分野で見られます。

1. This shows that Salvation eventually must come from the Lord, Himself. 救いは神から来る必要があります The Lord promised that the “seed” of the woman (Gen 3:15) 創世記3:15、would in the end bring the end of the serpent, Satan.  God brought this about by His Own Power and not through mere human effort, strength or struggle.
Our Salvation can never come through Human effort, but MUST be the Work of God Himself.  This proves to be the case as Paul writes in Gal 4:4-5 4:4-5  But when the set time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to Son-ship.

2. The Virgin Birth made possible the uniting of FULL Deity and FULL Humanity in one Person. 神と人との統合を可能とする This was the means God used to send His Only Son to earth as a Man.  (John 3:16, Gal 4:4)  If we would try to think up a better way for this to happen, it would come far short of the glory this produces.  I would guess God ‘could have’ made Jesus a human being in Heaven and sent Him down an escalator to the earth but that would not have helped us see Him as fully Man as we are.  That type of creation would not have come down the human line from Adam.
On the other hand, if God ‘could have’ made Jesus come from a man and woman union, with His fully divine nature miraculously united to his human nature later in his life, that might be possible.  But that would bring the problem of seeing Him fully God as His origin was like ours in every way.  Could we become divine later on in life as well?  No.  Some teach that but not teachings from the Bible.
We can see some of why God did this in the way He did.  This way helps us understand how God, in His complete wisdom, ordained or designed a combination of human and Godly effect in the birth of Christ.  We can see that impact would be greater to see that the Virgin Birth—with the influence and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit could work this to become reality with Mary.

•The Virgin Birth and the doctrinal importance of that birth is seen:
3. There is the problem of inherited sin; the Original Sin原罪の問題 of Adam. The Virgin Birth makes possible Christ’s TRUE humanity without inheriting the Sin of Adam.  It would not be connected to Adam race.  All of human kind has indeed inherited legal guilt and a corrupt moral nature from our first father, Adam.  The fact that Jesus did not have a human father means that the direct line of decent from Adam is somewhat interrupted.  Jesus’ ancestral connection to Adam would be different.  This moral and legal issue does not belong to Christ.
Look at Luke 1:35 ルカ1:35  The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Just because the Holy Spirit brought about the conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary, this child can be called “holy.”  In this case, the unbroken line of descent from Adam was interrupted and that Jesus was conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit.  Without a direct connect with the line of Adam, that breaks the line, was the method God, the Father, used to bring it about that Jesus was fully human YET did not share the inherited sin that Adam carried.
Here is where it gets tricky.  Some groups teach that Mary herself was free from sin, but the Scripture nowhere teaches that.  How far back will it need to go so that this guilt and corrupt moral nature would not be there? (On December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX proclaimed, 1854年12月8日に、ピウス9世は宣言した…“The Most Holy Virgin Mary was, in the first moment of her conception … in view of the merits of Jesus Christ … preserved free from ALL stain of original sin.”  (Ludwig Ott, Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, trans. Patrick Lynch (Rockford: Tan, 1960), p 190). They also teach that Mary was free from every personal sin during her whole life”, p. 203).
To respond to that, we must confirm that this belief is not supported from Scripture.  “All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.”  Mary was indeed “Blessed…among women” (Lk 1:42) but nowhere does the Bible specify that Mary was free from inherited sin.  Just not there. そこにだけではない!
As we look at how the Christian Faith has been attacked over the years, it should not catch us by surprise that those who deny the complete truthfulness of Scripture would also deny the doctrine of the Virgin Birth.  It is not possible, they would say.  If our beliefs were to be directed by the statements of the Scripture, than we would truthfully not deny this teaching.

To say we believe this because it is in the Apostle’s Creed is not the proof of it correctiveness.  The Scriptures affirms the teaching of the Virgin Birth.  As we learn more about this Creator God, such a miracle is not out of line from what He is capable of doing.  Anyone who affirms that the Virgin Birth is just impossible is, in fact, confessing his or her unbelief in the God of the Bible.  And as we learn more of the doctrines of the Faith, we would be true to His Character to believe and affirm this doctrine as well. この教義を肯定する必要があります。

Lordship of Jesus

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;

As we hopefully remember, we are looking at the Apostle’s Creed. There is much to believe in but we will take out time as we go along this issue.

Lordship of Jesus:
I would state that belief in Jesus is the centered element of the Christian Faith.  Not only believing IN Him but also following Him.  A lot of people ‘believe’ but there is no life change. Some don’t let that belief effect their conduct or belief system. When we say we believe in gravity but we don’t worship it!  That kind of belief is non-active. Problem is, with belief in Jesus—when there is no activity, it fails to really make any lasting connection.  Belief takes the believer into a new area of life.  I would say that belief in Jesus is THE central belief that really sets us apart from the world.
It is centered on a term that some shun or even hate: The Lordship of Jesus.
He has called us to follow Him.  His followers tended to be a little fickle from time to time.  Even His closest three left Him there in the Garden but once they received the Holy Spirit of Promise…there is the difference.
Lordship is when a person moves from sin in repentance and turns to Christ in Faith 人は罪からイエスへ向きなおす。 .  A person who sees and understands that his sin is too much for him and that this sin is an affront 侮辱 to Holy God, he turns in repentance to Jesus—The One who says: “Come unto Me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.  This is called “Believing Repentance.” "悔い改めを信ずること"
The Bible teaches the Lordship of Jesus.  We will be doing the same.  Nothing new here but it needs to be both looked at and also believed. In fact, once this is settled in our hearts and minds, other parts of life will run in conflict with this because it does affect ALL of our life.
From Luke 2:11, we read of the first announcement of Jesus’ birth as: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.”
Lordship of Jesus Christ on our lives means He would have ABSOLUTE and complete control over our lives.  Once this is understood, believe me, your life will be changed dramatically in bringing Glory to God.
The costs Jesus paid:  イエスが支払った代価:1コリント6:19、20   In 1 Corinthians 6:19 and 20, we find: 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
It is absolutely true that He did not pay for this with silver or gold, “But with the precious Blood of Christ”  1 Peter 1:19.  He became Lord over us because He bought us with such a dear price and that of His costly blood.
Remember that Jesus humbled Himself on the Cross and this was an obedience unto death.  He was not going to jump off the Cross to prove His claims.  He would raise from the dead instead.  And because of this action on His part, God exalted Jesus.  神はイエスを喜ぶ:ピリピ2:5-7  He gave Him a Name that was above every name. Look at Philippians 2:5-7.  Every Knee Shall Bow IN HEAVEN and on the earth.  His Lordship is universal and for all time.  Salvation comes to us ONLY when we acknowledge Him as Lord—Rom 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved..
He requires Loyalty and Devotion.  イエスは忠誠と献身を求める:ルカ14:26-27、マタイ6:33、マタイ4:20 When we read that very hard passage in Luke 14:26~27 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. we can see that this is a very serious passage.  This means our love for our family members should NEVER come above our love for God.  It means this is not a simple walk in the park!  It is very serious. He is very willing to go the distance to get our attention…in fact, He went all the way to the Cross so that we could come to Him.  We are called to seek His Kingdom first and also His righteousness. Matt 6:33 (But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.).  That means we CANNOT love our family members more than we love God!
His call is a simple one but it has deep challenges.  “Come, follow Me” was what He said to the fishermen.  The Bible says that “At once they left their nets and followed Him.” Matt 4:20…
Following Jesus is not an easy choice…not an easy road to take.  We are to take up our Cross and follow Him… Those who have taken up the Cross and who put their faith in Jesus, have three distinct marks: 一度主とともに十字架にあるには3つの特徴がある: 1) they are facing only one direction, 一方向のみに向く
2) they can never turn back—[you are nailed to the Cross]  決して引き返さない and
3) they no longer have plans of their own.もはや自分自身の計画によらない.   Taken in part from A.W. Tozer’s comments in Tim Hansel, Holy Sweat, 1987, Word Books Publisher, p. 187.
How are you marked? Going anywhere you want to go OR is the direction you are going the way He wants you to go?
In following Jesus, and Salvation is freely offered to one and all, the cost is high.  He does not guarantee earthly comforts. (Luke 9:58 Foxes have holes but …) 2nd, He challenges is to do the work of getting the Word out if we claim to be spiritually alive in Him.  We are not to make excuses (Luke 9:60 “let the dead bury the dead…”)  And lastly, Jesus gives us a challenge to look forward and not keep looking back—at what we had. (Luke 9:62/ No one puts his hand to the plow…)
In fact, we are really challenged in His words to us in Luke 14:33 “In the same way, any of you who does not give up EVERYTHING he has cannot be My disciple”(!)  So, when we follow Jesus, we need to really count the cost in following Him because He insists on 100% loyalty!
On the practical side 適用   of it, what does this look like?  Will I need to sell all my belongings and move to India?  Well, let’s not go there yet.  Let’s instead look at some practical applications of His Lordship.
He wants your Mind! イエスはあなたの心が欲しい!ローマ12:02
This past week, as I was reading in my devotional time, I came across Romans 12:2.  BAM!  “Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”  Yes, we are losing our minds and He wants us to be active in taking it back—to bring Him honor.  There is a sense of urgency in this verse…  “any longer…”  It USED to be that way but not any longer…grow up!
The battlefield of this warfare is in the mind.  It is in the Spiritual realms. It is not to be fought with sticks and stone or setting off fireworks to scare the evil spirits away or by using special water to sprinkle on people or things.  It is fought in the spiritual arena. By having a renewed mind—one that is Christ centered—one can get the battle won.  Along with this renewal of the mind, John sets our sights on not loving this world we find ourselves in.  (1John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them., 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.)  And James 4:4 says You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God..  In seeing this, you can see that we need to be careful to reject the thought patterns we used to have.
Here is a simple test to understand Jesus as Lord of your mind: Ask the question, “What is His thoughts of what I am thinking right now?”  Beware, “For the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts” (1 Chronicles 28:9).  Is He pleased?  Is He deeply concerned?  Do we need a renewal of our minds?
He wants your BODY   イエスはあなたの体を望んでいる:1コリント6:20、ローマ人への手紙12:01
Jesus is most interested in a living person who is active and functioning in tune with His plans for us. 1 Cor 6:20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.  Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.  This is how we please God.
He wants your DECISIONS  イエス様はあなたの意思決定を望んでいる:使徒行伝10:10、マタイ2:3、箴言3:5,6
Jesus wants to help us with the day to day choices we make.  Ones that would bring Him honor.  Acts 22:10 “‘What shall I do, Lord?’ I asked.“ ‘Get up,’ the Lord said, ‘and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.’  Matt 2:3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.   Proverbs 3:5, 6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart   and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
He wants your FINANCE$.   イエスはあなたの富を望んでいる:マタイ6:24、6:19-21、ルカ16:9、使徒4:32、使徒5:1-11 The Lord has it all: cattle on a 1,000 hills so why would He be interested in your yen or dollars?  This is the heart of matter.
Matt 6:24  “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matt 6:19-21 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 16:9  I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
Acts 4:32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.
Acts 5:11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
Lastly, He wants your WORK. イエスはあなたの働きを望んでいる。 Again, He is the Creator God—why is He concerned with our work.  Not that we need to work for His Love or work to satisfy any needs He has… He is concerned with how we deal with TIME 時間 ; .   What kind of ENERGY   エネルギー we use for Him and others.   Our RESOURCES  資源 -talents, skills, our concern for others—our love.  And He is concerned with our PRIORITIES  優先順位 .   Is He first in our life?  What place does He have?    Without these four elements in check with His Heart, we are headed for a Spiritual shipwreck.
1 Cor 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.  Col 3:23, 24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Matt 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Luke 10:39-42 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  Mark 6:31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
    1コリント10:31、コロサイ3:23、24、マタイ5:16、ルカ10:38-42、マルコ6:31
Jesus, who died for your sins, is worthy to receive all the power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.  We can never ascribe or credit too much to Him.  But He is worthy also to be believed.  To be loved more than any other, in opposition to any that would rival Him; to be followed, wherever He may lead us, through an evil report or a good report; to be favored to ease, pleasure, wealth, health, to anything and everything this world has to offer.  Jesus is worthy to be our example, our confidant, our king, and our all.  He is worthy of all He requires, all we can give, all His people have done for Him or suffered in His cause. Taken from James Smith, in Daily Remembrances.  He is worthy to be Lord of our lives!  Lordship of Jesus DEMANDS our worship!  物事の終わり:イエスキリストの支配権は、礼拝を要求する! Remember this: Andrew Murray once said: God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him.
We call Him Master and yet do not obey Him,
We call Him Light and do not see Him,
We call Him Way but don’t follow Him.
We call Him Life and don’t desire Him.
We call Him Wise and don’t acknowledge Him.
We call Him Faith but don’t Love Him,
We call Him Rich but don’t ask Him,
We call Him Eternal but don’t seek Him,
We call Him Gracious but don’t trust Him.
We call Him Noble but don’t serve Him,
We call Him Mighty but don’t honor Him,
We call Him Just but don’t fear Him.
If He condemn us, don’t blame Him!
